Bora Chung es una escritora, traductora y académica surcoreana nacida en 1976. Estudió Literatura Rusa en la Universidad de Yale y obtuvo un doctorado en Literatura Eslava en la Universidad de Indiana. Además de su carrera académica, se ha destacado como una autora de ficción innovadora, fusionando géneros como el horror, la fantasía, la ciencia ficción y lo absurdo.

Chung ha traducido al coreano obras de escritores rusos como Andrei Platonov y Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, lo que ha influido notablemente en su estilo literario. Su obra más conocida a nivel internacional es la colección de cuentos "Cursed Bunny" (Conejo maldito), finalista del International Booker Prize en 2022. Esta colección mezcla lo grotesco con lo político, abordando temas como la violencia de género, el capitalismo, la injusticia social y la tecnología, todo a través de una lente surrealista y muchas veces inquietante.

Además de su trabajo literario, Bora Chung ha enseñado escritura creativa y estudios eslavos en universidades de Corea del Sur.
