Dieses Buch aus dem Jahr 1910 war - neben dem berühmten "Bootsbau" von Brix - das Vademecum des Selbstbauers und Yachtseglers dieser Zeit. Es handelte es sich um einen regelrechten Bestseller, der immer wieder neu aufgelegt werden musste, um die gro e Nachfrage zu befriedigen. Das Buch ist ähnlich umfangreich wie der "Brix", richtet sich aber mehr als dieser an den Amateur und Selbstbauer, erläutert also die Grundlagen des Bootsbaus und der damit verbundenen Handwerke von Grund auf. Inhaltlich gibt es keine Lücken, von Paddelbooten bis hin zu Kreuzeryachten, Renn- und Tourenbooten wird alles Wissenswerte auf gut 400 Seiten gut verständlich dargelegt. Unterstützt wird das Buch durch zahlreiche Risse und Abbildungen bekannter Schiffstypen, etwa der legendären Werft "Abeking und Rasmussen". Auch Bootspflege, Takelung, die Segel und vieles andere wird behandelt - bis hin zur Konstruktion einer "Eisyacht". Spätestens hier wird das Buch einmalig.
