Don Emilio Manís Patiño fue un agrónomo emblemático de los mejores valores de la Escuela Nacional de Agricultura en el Siglo XX. Miembro de la primera generación que terminó sus estudios en la ex hacienda de Chapingo, habiéndolos iniciado en San Jacinto, Don Emilio es un precursor en muchos sentidos. Por intermediación del Ing. Juan de Dios Bojórquez (otro agrónomo ilustre) fue, junto a Gilberto Loyo, uno de los dos primeros mexicanos en cursar un postgrado en disciplinas estadísticas; y nada menos que bajo la tutoría de Corrado Gini, seguramente el estadístico más influyente en la década de los años veinte del siglo pasado.
