Synopsis "The Dark Secret of HRD: Four Things You Need to Know to Stop Wasting Money on Training"

"Most of the money invested in learning and development is wasted. This is what I call the 'dark secret of HRD.' Organizations that invest in training aren't getting what they paid for. Not even close. The reason is that knowing what to do isn't at all the same thing as doing it. In the long run, what people learn about in training usually isn't applied in the workplace. This failure to translate classroom instruction to workplace performance has been on the street for a long time, but for various reasons the message hasn't reached top management."In this brief, straightforward book, Dr. Coates reveals why this failure happens. The truth lies in why people do what they do in the workplace and what it takes to rewire their brains. This dose of reality points toward a practical solution.
