Synopsis "Laugh-Out-Loud Victorian Poetry: Poems for Writers & Book-Lovers"

The Victorian era was the dawn of the age of "everyday" book-lovers. For the first time, folks like you and me could afford books... and if you're like me, that meant becoming addicted to books. Well, here's a collection of Victorian poems for folks who understand that "books we must have though we lack bread!" As for the second part, you don't have to be a writer to enjoy these delightful complaints of Victorian poets who look at the woes of the writing life and the difficulties of getting published! Here, poets bemoan everything from the glacial slowness of editors to get their work in print - to the lightning speed with which rejection slips arrive. It's a reminder that even some of the "big names" in poetry (like Oliver Wendell Holmes and Andrew Lang) had the same struggles we writers face today. So enjoy a warning to editors who don't treat writers well, hear the musings of a poet's wife, delight in a writer's dream, and take a look at some of the oddities of the English language. Whether you write books or just love to read them, you'll want to add this book to your collection!
