IN TIMES OF FREEDOM - Ana Cristina Vargas;By the Spirit José António;By the Spirit Layla

In Times of Freedom, psychographed by the medium Ana Cristina Vargas and dictated by the spiritual mentors Layla and José Antônio, is an unforgettable Spiritist historical novel that explores the dramatic journey of an immortal soul through ancient Rome from 28 A.D. onward.

Raised in the serene countryside at Villa Lorena under the Stoic education of her Spartan mother, Mirina, and the noble patrician matron Doña Octávia, young Verônica’s life is shattered when a brutal act of violence deprives her of her home and protectors. Suddenly forced into homelessness, Verônica faces extreme poverty on the streets of Rome. Refusing to degrade herself through tavern prostitution, she makes an extraordinary choice: entering a gladiatorial school managed by Ênio. Working in the animal stalls by day and training relentlessly by night under Clodovico and Orson, Verônica transforms into a formidable gladiatrix, earning respect, fame, and independence in a ruthless male-dominated world.

As her renown grows throughout the empire, Verônica catches the eye of Paulus, a violent Roman centurion whose passionate obsession threatens her freedom. But her destiny changes forever when she meets Caio Petrônio, a cultured patrician and former magistrate who sees past her warrior exterior to her immortal spirit. Through their profound emotional connection and the spiritual guidance of the Sibyl Cornélia in Tivoli, Verônica discovers that her life’s struggles, recurring nightmares, and intense emotional battles are karmic reflections of past incarnations. Facing her abuser with forgiveness rather than hatred, Verônica breaks ancient spiritual chains, opening her heart to love, marriage, and the birth of her daughter, Cybele.

When a sudden tragedy orchestrated by unyielding jealousy strikes her family in Jerusalem, Verônica must draw upon all her inner strength. Supported by her Egyptian companion Sáfia and guided by Caio’s moving posthumous letters, she refuses to yield to vengeance. Instead, she embraces unconditional forgiveness and devotes her remaining years to spiritual service in the Temple of Isis in Egypt, proving that true freedom is earned within the soul.

Rich in historical authenticity, philosophical reflection, and Spiritist wisdom, In Times of Freedom stands as a moving testament to reincarnation, the Law of Cause and Effect, and the ultimate triumph of love over adversity for publishers, scholars, and readers worldwide who seek profound spiritual literature.
