S ólo una poesía «despojada de su naturaleza» como la de Hilos podría abordar el pensar y el sentir, los procesos de la mente y experiencias como el vértigo, el miedo, el cansancio o la vigilia, pero también el gesto y el movimiento del cuerpo; es decir, todos los fragmentos del yo, sus profundidades y sus mecanismos, sus lugares y sus imágenes, fragmentos que sólo adquieren sentido mediante los hilos que los unen y sin los cuales serían destellos inconexos.Variaciones en torno a un tema, como las series tituladas «Estrategias» o «Lo irremediable», se combinan a modo de fuga con poemas sueltos o reunidos bajo un título que los agrupa, en esta obra que lleva la desnudez poética hasta sus últimas consecuencias.A Hilos le sigue otro poemario, Cual , donde la palabra que da título al conjunto de poemas –utilizada en muy distintos significados, incluso como sujeto poético («Cual» podría ser cualquier persona, todos nosotros)– sitúa al lector frente a diversas realidades existenciales.De este modo, Hilos , unido a Cual , cubre el vasto trayecto que va desde el yo, apenas «un aliento que vibra» en la orilla del sueño, hasta el mundo, el exterior, al que poco a poco, a lo largo de estas páginas, va asomándose Chantal Maillard: al aire, a la luz, al Otro.

Chantal Maillard (Brussels, 1951) has been living in Málaga since 1963 and, currently, also spends long periods in Barcelona. With a PhD in philosophy and a full professor of aesthetics and theory of the arts, she taught at the University of Málaga until 2001. She lived in Varanasi, where she specialized in Indian philosophy and religions. She is the author of Indian Diaries and Spindles, as well as numerous essays, including Against Art, the most recent. Considered "one of the most intense, honest, and radical poetic voices of the current scene" (M.L. Blanco, El País), as a poet she has published, among others, the volumes Poems to My Death (1994, Santa Cruz de La Palma Award), Spells (2001), Fuzzy Logic (2002) and, in this same collection, Killing Plato (Marginales 218), which won the National Poetry Award 2004, and Threads followed by Which (Marginales 243), which deserved the Andalusia Critics Award and the National Critics Award in 2007, Hainuwele and Other Poems (2009, Ricardo Molina Award in its 1990 version), The Wound in the Tongue (2015), Which Diminishing (2018) and Medea (2020).
