Synopsis "Green Island Book 2: A Place to Stand"

In Greenways, Book 1 of Green Island, we take a journey around newly-established Green Island with some interesting people and explore how a true 'of, by and for the people' democratic society might function, with the work of the citizens to create a prosperous and free society. As a further exploration of the story, we also sit in on a universal sort of hearing as 'The Universal One' examines how our modern civilization got in such dire straits that we needed the example of a Green Island to put in stark contrast to the way we have allowed our planet and society to develop. Then A Place to Stand, Book 2 of the Green Island duology, tells the story of how the Great Hegemon of our modern world, a power very very disinclined to allow such a society of free people to take root as an example to the enslaved peoples of other countries around the world to what they could aspire to be, tries to destroy Green Island and return it to forelock-tugging Vassal State status of the hegemon, but is met with unexpected resistance from the freedom-loving peoples of the world. Lots of excitement, one of the best hostage-taking resolutions in the cannon, and some questions for all of us to consider.
