Synopsis "Design and Construction of a Hybrid Egg Incubator"

The objective of this project is to propose a device that is accessible to poultry farmers and breeders and that is best suited to our local conditions (study area) by reducing the production cost of day-old chicks and optimizing the energy source used. To achieve our objective, we employed various methods, such as functional analysis-which allowed us to tailor our design to the needs of poultry farmers and breeders-and the heat balance method, which enabled us to calculate all the thermal loads of our incubator. The use of energy sources (electricity and solar thermal energy) would reduce the amount of electrical energy previously consumed to incubate the eggs. It incorporates a programmed egg-turning mechanism every 6 hours and has a relatively small footprint. Furthermore, tests conducted on the incubator show that it can maintain the eggs within an acceptable temperature range for incubation for just over 45 minutes in Hybrid mode, which gives the poultry farmer enough time to find an alternative power source.
