Xavier Sala i Martin
Xavier Sala i Martín, born on June 17, 1962 in Cabrera de Mar, Barcelona, is a prominent economist and university professor. He earned his bachelor's degree in Economic Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1985 and received his PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 1990. He has taught at prestigious institutions such as Yale and Harvard, and since 1995 has been a professor at Columbia University. His research focuses on economic growth, a field in which he is considered a global authority
Among his most notable works are "Economic Growth" (1995), co-authored with Robert Barro; "Liberal Economics for Non-Economists and Non-Liberals" (2001); "Well, I See It This Way" (2010); "Economy in Colors" (2015); and "The Invasion of the Robots" (2018). These works range from academic treatises to economic dissemination essays. In addition to his literary output, Sala i Martín has been the editor of the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum and has collaborated with various international organizations.
