Kat Black
Kat Black is an Australian artist specialized in digital collage, video art, and interactive installations. Her most recognized work is Golden Tarot (2003), a deck of 78 cards that recreates the symbolism of the Rider-Waite tarot through digital compositions of European works from the international Gothic period (1300–1500). This deck includes a 198-page illustrated book with detailed interpretations and references to the artistic sources used.
Kat Black is also the author of Touchstone Tarot (2009), another deck that employs similar digital collage techniques. Although she has not received formal awards, Golden Tarot was repeatedly voted as one of the "Top Ten Tarot Decks of All Time" on the Aeclectic Tarot forum between 2004 and 2008. In addition to her tarot work, she collaborates with her partner Jasper Cook on video art projects under the name VJzoo.
