Daniel Warren Johnson
Daniel Warren Johnson (Massachusetts, 1987) is a renowned American screenwriter and illustrator, noted for his dynamic and emotional style in contemporary comics. His career began with the web series Space Mullet (2012–2017), and he gained prominence with works like Extremity (2017), Murder Falcon (2018) and Do a Powerbomb (2022), the latter awarded the Eisner Prize for Best Publication for Teens in 2023. He has also worked on titles from Marvel and DC, including Beta Ray Bill: Argent Star (2021) and Wonder Woman: Dead Earth (2019–2020)
In 2023, Johnson revitalized the Transformers franchise with a new series published by Skybound/Image Comics, which is part of the Energon Universe. This work has been acclaimed for its intense narrative and expressive art, winning the Eisner Awards for Best Continuing Series and Best Writer/Artist in 2024. His regular collaboration with colorist Mike Spicer has been crucial in the visual impact of his comics.
