Catalina Valdés
Catalina Valdés Mena is a Chilean speech therapist specialized in orofacial motricity, with a notable career in research and teaching. She serves as a professor at the Autonomous University of Chile, where she has guided innovative theses, such as the first global research on the application of the Magda Zorzella method in aesthetic speech therapy, which won the Award for Excellence in Work at the IX Congress of Speech Therapy Students of the University of Chile in 2015.

Among her most outstanding works is the Evaluation and Speech Therapy Intervention in Orofacial Motricity and Related Areas (2019), co-authored with Franklin Susanibar and María Paz Moya, published by GiuntiEOS. This book addresses treatment paradigms in orofacial motricity and proposes objective tools such as cephalometry and electromyography for diagnosis and speech therapy intervention. Its approach integrates scientific evidence with clinical practice, significantly contributing to the development of speech therapy in Latin America.
