Danny Meyer, born on March 14, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri, is a renowned American restaurateur and founder of the Union Square Hospitality Group. In 1985, at the age of 27, he opened his first restaurant, Union Square Cafe, in New York, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in the hospitality industry.

In addition to his success in the restaurant business, Meyer has ventured into culinary writing. He is co-author of "The Union Square Cafe Cookbook" (1994) and "Second Helpings from Union Square Cafe" (2001), both in the cookbook genre. He is also the author of "Setting the Table" (2006), a work that explores the power of hospitality in business and life.
