Edgar P. Jacobs (Brussels, March 30, 1904 – Lasne, February 20, 1987) was a prominent Belgian comic book artist, known for his contribution to European comics. Initially, he pursued a career in lyrical singing, but World War II interrupted his musical career, leading him to focus on illustration and graphic storytelling. He closely collaborated with Hergé on the Adventures of Tintin, contributing his talent to albums like "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "The Seven Crystal Balls".

Among his most notable works is the "Blake and Mortimer" series, which began with "The Secret of the Swordfish" (1947), a narrative of science fiction and adventure. Other important titles in the series include "The Yellow M" (1953) and "The Mystery of the Great Pyramid" (1955). His work "The U-Ray" (1943) is another significant piece in the science fiction genre. In 1971, he received the Saint Michel Prize in the Grand Prize category, recognizing his impact on Belgian comics.
