ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Twenty-four emblematic authors have participated in this unique anthology, Sam no es mi tío. They are Latin American writers, reporters or members of the academia whose purpose is to write about the Americas. For them, reality is composed of millions of stories like theirs, and these stories are part of our societies. These chronicles set out to describe a contemporary microhistory of the American continent. One where the eternal migrations, violence, departures and arrivals, success and defeat, linguistic and cultural misunderstandings, racism and xenophobia cohabitate in a narration that will forever remain incomplete. Readers will embark on fascinating and familiar paths. They will laugh and suffer with the main characters of these very real lives, as real as that friend, that cousin, or that father who left for the North, but never really talked about what happened there. Stories such as the woman who watched the Twin Towers fall with her lover, while speculating if her husband had just died, or even the one where an American defends Latin people to later be betrayed by them.
