Sir Richard J. Evans (born on September 29, 1947 in Woodford, London) is a British historian specialized in the history of Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries. He was a professor of History at Birkbeck College, University of London (1989-1998) and, subsequently, Regius Professor of Modern History at the University of Cambridge (1998-2014). In 2012, he was knighted for his contributions to historical research.

Among his most notable works is the trilogy on the Third Reich: "The Coming of the Third Reich" (2005), "The Third Reich in Power" (2007), and "The Third Reich at War" (2011). Additionally, he has published "The Pursuit of Power: Europe 1815-1914" (2017) and "Hitler and the Conspiracy Theories: The Third Reich and the Paranoid Imagination" (2021). These works, framed within the genre of political history, offer a deep analysis of Nazi Germany and modern Europe.
