Yeyo Balbás, historian and independent researcher, is the author of Sword, Hunger and Captivity: The Islamic Conquest of Spania, as well as the historical novels The Impossible Kingdom (2019, Ediciones B), also about the Muslim conquest of the Visigothic kingdom, Pax Romana and Bread and Circus (2011 and 2013, both at Roca Editorial), a versatility that brings a strong narrative pulse to all his works. Additionally, his deep historical knowledge has led him to translate works such as Roman Military Equipment, The Roman Army of the Late Empire or Vikings at War, all published by Desperta Ferro Ediciones and to participate as a historical advisor in documentaries like 778. La Chanson de Roland (2011), directed by Olivier van der Zee, or in films like Risen (2016), directed by Kevin Reynolds and starring Joseph Fiennes. Yeyo Balbás is a member of the Raven Clan, a historical reenactment group focused on the Late Antique and Early Medieval period.
