Un hombre y una mujer se encuentran cada noche en una habitacion desnuda frente al mar. Los liga un extraño acuerdoa: a cambio de una remuneracion, ella debe yacer junto a el, pero sus noches seran blancas, el no la desa, unicamente la quiere a su lado para que lo salve de la muerte, del miedo. Como un muro de cristal, se erige entre ellos el recuerdo de un joven extranjero de ojos azules pelo negro, quimera extraviada de un amor innombrable, perdido de antemano, vivido en la certeza de una imposible posesion. El infierno de una pasion incumplida que enfrenta al hombre a todos sus abismos se encarna aqui en "el mal de la muerte", la homosexualidad, palabra que sin embargo permanece ausente durante todo el texto, pues apenas sirve como metafora de la tragica soledad que habita en el fondo de la condicion humana.
