Synopsis "Los Elementos de la Noche: Poesia i (1958-1964) (in Spanish)"

José Emilio Pacheco (Mexico City, 1939-2014) published his first stories in La sangre de Medusa, followed by El viento distante and El principio del placer. His narrative work includes notable titles such as Morirás lejos and Las batallas en el desierto, a long seller since its release. His poetic work, starting with Los elementos de la noche and El reposo del fuego, is unparalleled and includes fourteen poetry collections compiled in two anthologies. Equally distinguished is his work as an essayist, particularly in «Inventario», a column published over four decades that merges literary and journalistic elements, essential for understanding the culture of Mexico and the world. His translations of Beckett, Wilde, Tennessee Williams, and T.S. Elliot, to name a few, bring us closer to the benchmarks of world literature. He received, among others, the José Asunción Silva 1996, José Donoso 2001, Octavio Paz 2003, Ramón López Velarde 2003, Pablo Neruda 2004, Alfonso Reyes 2004, Reina Sofía 2009, and Cervantes Prize 2009 awards.
