Synopsis "La Enfermedad del Conejo y Otros Cuentos en Decimas (in Spanish)"

El autor de este libro se ha propuesto relatar la historia de distintos animales presentes en nuestra larga y diversa geografía.
En un recorrido por el país desde Atacama hasta Aysén, Eustaquio nos va contando las aventuras de curiosos personajes. Entre ellos, el guanaco que jugaba a la pelota en Parinacota, el lagarto corredor de Atacama, el burrito de Andacollo, el pelícano pintor de Valparaíso, el conejo memorión que se salva por un recuerdo de infancia, el búho Tucúquere de la cordillera de Nahuelbuta y la difícil historia de la oveja Miel, de Aysén.
Eustaquio nos sorprende no solo por los entrañables personajes que nos describe, sino también porque nos relata estas historias en la tradición de la décima espinela encuartetada; esto quiere decir que los versos de la cuarteta inicial son el pie forzado para las décimas que prosiguen, y así cada cuento termina con una décima de despedida. De esta manera nos muestra la diversidad de la fauna nacional, compuesta por especies originarias del territorio y por otras que, llegadas desde afuera, se han adaptado al ecosistema, conviviendo en los paisajes rurales y urbanos de Chile.
Sin duda, niños y jóvenes disfrutarán de este libro por sus cuentos y por las fantásticas y luminosas ilustraciones que ambientan y dan vida a cada personaje.

Eustaquio Pérez, pseudonym of the Chilean writer Lautaro Muñoz Tamayo, is an author and poet specialized in children's and youth literature. His work is notable for the use of the décima, a traditional poetic form that combines popular meter with educational and social themes. Among his most recognized publications are La enfermedad del conejo y otros cuentos en décimas (2014), Cuentos del mundo en décimas chilenas (2017), and Niñas poderosas, mujeres grandiosas. Cuentos en décimas (2020)

His work falls within the genres of poetry and children's narrative, with a focus on promoting values and rescuing historical female figures. Pérez has been recognized for his contribution to educational literature, especially for bringing traditional poetry to new generations.
