Dante Aligheri, poeta italiano, nació en el año 1265 y murió en el año 1321. La Divina Comedia es su obra cumbre y una de las más importantes de la literatura universal, que empezó a componer hacia el año 1307 y le ocupó hasta el final de su vida. He was an active defender of Italian unity. He wrote several treatises in Latin on literature, politics, and philosophy.
