Es el caso de Percival Christopher Wren con su “Beau geste”, «retrato inolvidable de un puñado de marginados, acosados hasta la desesperación por un enemigo invisible y la indiferencia criminal del desierto africano»; de Sir Henry Rider Haggard y las aventuras de Allan Quatermain, en las que se siente como en ningún otro lugar «el latigazo delicioso de la aventura bien contada, de la intriga y el riesgo, la osadía y la abnegación»; de «la plasticidad descriptiva y el sentido del ritmo narrativo» de Henryk Sienkiewicz en “A través del desierto”, y, por último, de Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, el representante más genuino del género extrovertido (con permiso de Jung) en “La tragedia del Korosko”. Por el libro también desfilan las sombras de Joseph Conrad, Alphonse Daudet, Ernst Jünger, Rudyard Kipling, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Emilio Salgari, Julio Verne, Karl May, André Gide, Ernest Hemingway, Romain Gáry y Joseph Kessel.
