Synopsis "Hacia Un Ecoevangelio (Biblioteca Herder)"

Jorge Mario Bergoglio, known as Pope Francis, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1936. As the leader of the Catholic Church, he is recognized for his pastoral approach and his commitment to issues of social justice, poverty, and ecology. Before being elected Pope in 2013, Bergoglio was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, where he stood out for his closeness to the disadvantaged and his austere lifestyle.

Among his main works is Querida Amazonia (2020), in which he addresses the ecological and social challenges of the Amazon region. This work reflects his vision on integral ecology and the defense of the rights of indigenous peoples. His theological approach combines spiritual reflection with a strong call to social action.

Benedict XVI, born as Joseph Ratzinger in 1927 in Germany, was a prominent theologian and leader of the Catholic Church. Before his election as Pope in 2005, he had already made a significant mark on contemporary theology. Among his most influential works is Introduction to Christianity (1968), a collection of university lectures on the apostolic profession of faith. During his pontificate, he published three encyclicals: Deus caritas est (2005), Spe salvi (2007), and Caritas in veritate (2009), addressing fundamental issues such as love, hope, and charity in the modern context.

Additionally, Benedict XVI is the author of the Jesus of Nazareth trilogy, published between 2007 and 2012, where he explores the figure of Jesus Christ from a deep theological perspective. Another notable work is School of Prayer (2012), which compiles his catechesis on Christian prayer given during general audiences.
