Robert C. Martin, known as "Uncle Bob", is a renowned American software engineer with a career spanning since 1970. He founded Uncle Bob Consulting, LLC, and co-founded, along with his son Micah Martin, The Clean Coders, LLC, both focused on improving software development practices.

Among his most notable works is "Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship" (2008), a benchmark in software craftsmanship. Other notable titles include "The Clean Coder: A Code of Conduct for Professional Programmers" (2011) and "Functional Design: Principles, Patterns, and Practices" (2017). Martin is also a co-author of the Agile Manifesto and has significantly contributed to the development of software design principles, such as the SOLID principles.
