Eine Blattfeder ist eine einfache Form der Aufhängungsfeder, die dazu dient, die bei der Bewegung eines Fahrzeugs entstehenden Schwingungen zu absorbieren. In der Automobilindustrie besteht ein zunehmendes Interesse daran, Blattfedern aus Stahl (55Si 7) durch Blattfedern aus Verbundwerkstoffen (E-Glas/Epoxid) zu ersetzen, da diese ein besseres Verhältnis zwischen Festigkeit und Gewicht, eine höhere Steifigkeit, eine höhere Absorption der Aufprallenergie und geringere Spannungen aufweisen. In dieser Studie wird eine vergleichende Analyse zwischen Stahlblattfedern und Jute/E-Glas-verstärkten Epoxid-Blattfedern durchgeführt.
