Concha López Narváez was born in Seville in 1939. She studied Philosophy and Arts and History and was a teacher, until she fully committed to writing children's and young adult books. She was president for three years of the Spanish Association of Friends of Children's and Young Adult Books and vice-president of the Spanish Section of the Ibby. Awarded with numerous prizes, such as the Lazarillo Prize 1984, Ibby Honour List 1986 and Cervantes Chico Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature 1996 for her body of work, among others.
