Diana Gabaldon (Arizona 1952), American writer with degrees in Zoology (bachelor's), Marine Biology (master's) and Ecology (PhD), combined her academic career -publishing scientific articles and humorous stories for Disney- with literary creation. In 1991, she started the Outlander series, her first novel, which blends historical romance, adventure, and time travel. The series has sold over 50 million copies, has been translated into 38 languages, and has received awards such as the RITA (1992) and the PEN Book Award (2006).
Additionally, Gabaldon has expanded her literary universe with 9 novels in the main series, Lord John Grey spin-offs, the collection Seven Stones to Stand or Fall, three non-fiction books, and an Outlander graphic novel, published in Spanish by Salamandra.
