Susanna Tamaro (Trieste, December 12, 1957) is an Italian writer known for her introspective and spiritual style. Her most emblematic novel, Follow Your Heart (1994), became an editorial phenomenon with over 15 million copies sold and was adapted into a film in 1996. Other notable works include Anima mundi (1997), For a Single Voice (1991) and Head in the Clouds (1989), the latter awarded the Elsa Morante Prize. Tamaro has also ventured into children's literature with titles such as The Magic Circle (1995) and Cuore di ciccia (1992).
Throughout her career, she has received various accolades, including the Rapallo Carige Prize in 1992 for For a Single Voice and the Cento Prize in 1995 for The Magic Circle. In 2013, she was honored with the Dante d'Oro for her literary career. Her work is characterized by exploring themes such as faith, introspection, and human relationships, establishing her as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Italian narrative.
