Synopsis "Curso de Linguistica General (in Spanish)"

Entre 1907 y 1911 Ferdinand de Saussure da tres cursos de lingüística general en la universidad de ginebra que supondrían, prácticamente, y en líneas generales, el nacimiento de la lingüística contemporánea. A su muerte, Ch. Bally y A. Sechehaye publicaron, a partir de las notas y apuntes de alumnos, el curso de lingüística general (1916), base de los estudios lingüísticos modernos. En él, Saussure define, por primera vez, conceptos clave, adjudicándoles una acepción determinada, avalada posteriormente por la lingüística: por ejemplo, términos como sincronía, diacronía; lengua, lenguaje, habla; signo, significado, significante; unidad lingüística, circuito del habla, estado de lengua, etc.
