Synopsis "Animales Urbanos (Bárbaros) (in Spanish)"

In the Barcelona of the 1940s, an eight-year-old girl contemplates the life that exists beyond the walls of her family's house in the outskirts of the Tibidabo. From her sheltered enclave, the girl's first interaction with the outside world is through the animals of the village—the horses, mules, rabbits, dogs, dairy cows, and crowing roosters. Soon she finds herself befriending the humanity beyond her doorstep that is just as diverse and fascinating as her animal friends— the vulgar young lady who works constantly and talks to her parrot; the gypsy cabdriver's family; and the grown woman with both a husband and a lifelong lover.
