Roberto Villa García (Ítrabo, 1978) is a historian and full professor of Political History at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. Specialized in the political history of Spain and contemporary Europe, he has focused his research on parties, elections, and political violence. He has been a visiting researcher at the universities of Wisconsin-Madison and Paris IV-Sorbonne. In 2017, he received the first research award from the Social Council of his university.

Among his most notable works are 1936. Fraud and Violence in the Elections of the Popular Front (2017), co-authored with Manuel Álvarez Tardío; The Price of Exclusion (2010); Alejandro Lerroux. The Liberal Republic (2019); Ricardo Samper. The Tragedy of a Liberal in the Second Republic (2019); 1917. The Catalan State and the Spanish Soviet (2021); and Cánovas del Castillo. Monarchy and Liberalism (2021), in collaboration with Carlos Gregorio Hernández. His work has sparked significant debates in contemporary historiography, especially for his critical analysis of the political and electoral dynamics of the Second Republic.

Manuel Álvarez Tardío (Madrid, 1972) is a Spanish historian and political scientist, specialized in the political history of the Second Republic and the democratic transition in Spain. PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, he serves as a tenured professor at Rey Juan Carlos University. His academic focus is on the relationships between politics and religion, institutional analysis, and democratic processes during the interwar period.

Among his most notable works are Anticlericalism and Freedom of Conscience (2002), The Road to Democracy in Spain (1931–1978) (2005), The Price of Exclusion (2010, co-authored with Roberto Villa García), 1936. Fraud and Violence in the Elections of the Popular Front (2017, with Roberto Villa García) and Crossfire. The Spring of 1936 (2024, with Fernando del Rey). His work has sparked significant debates in contemporary historiography, especially for his critical analysis of the political and electoral dynamics of the Second Republic.
